For retailers, this end-of-the-summer season is like Christmas. For kids, not so much. We're talking back to school shopping!

Retailers are already offering bargains. Even with those price cuts, the National Retail Federation says we are going to spend nearly $84 billion on back-to-school supplies.

At Staples, kids can exchange last year's binder for a $2 discount on a new one. And Walmart already has an 88-cent section for their school supplies.

Did you know your best deal depends on the day of the week? A website, called Extrabux tracks what customers are shopping for, when and the price history.

They found Monday is the best to buy electronics. Wednesday, you'll find discounts on jewelry. Thursday has the deepest discounts for handbags, Saturday it's books and Sunday, home appliances.

Goodyear announced it's swapping the petroleum ingredient in tires for soybeans.

Here's why: It blends better with the other elements used to make tires, reduces energy consumption at the factory, it increases tread life by 10 percent, and will cut Goodyear's oil use by 7 million gallons a year.

The soybean based tires won't be available until 2015.
