GREEN -- Final boarding call!
Southwest Airlines, the busiest airline operating from Akron-Canton Airport, launched new nonstop service to Atlanta on Sunday.
The 6:05 a.m. departure to Atlanta is now aboard Southwest's 143-seat Boeing 737-700 jet. This flight replaces a similar flight operated by wholly-owned subsidiary AirTran Airways.
"We are thrilled that Southwest will continue flying to Atlanta from CAK," said airport President and CEO, Rick McQueen. "Atlanta is one of our most popular destinations. Plus, this new service will preserve the lower fares and award-winning service Customers have come to expect to this important business and leisure destination. It is a win-win for the airport and the community."
Customers on the inaugural flight got a peachy treat too. Peach pie donuts and coffee were served to all Southwest Customers waiting to board their morning flight.
