Cleveland l United flight magazine touts Cleveland

CLEVELAND -- On Thursday night, Cleveland's business and community leaders will celebrate a big dose of positive publicity for Cleveland and Northeast Ohio.

They'll attend an event at the Global Center for Health Innovation to launch a 56-page insert in United's Hemisphere magazine called Dossier/Cleveland.

It's a series of articles touting all the reasons to consider living, working and investing in Cleveland.

Greater Cleveland Partnership President Joe Roman says this was done at the magazine's initiative.

He think efforts to convince United to preserve its Hopkins hub helped this happen.

"This is the largest one they've every done. ... What we've been selling them on, why they need to stay here is everything you will read in this section," he said.

Positively Cleveland's David Gilbert thinks the thumbs-up public relations will have a positive payoff.

"United wouldn't do that for every city. ... Nothing but good will come from it. It's going to change our perception, and I think it's going to help Cleveland stay on a roll," he said.

Hospitals, universities and major corporations all placed significant ads to help underwrite the cost.

The insert will be in the February Hemisphere magazine. United says 11.7 million passengers on flights all over the world will get a chance to read it.
