Restoration work under way on Cleveland's Free Stamp

CLEVELAND -- Restoration work is under way on Cleveland's iconic Free Stamp.

Workers were painting the sculpture at East Ninth and Lakeside on Friday.

The City of Cleveland and The Sculpture Center have hired ICA – Art Conservation to restore the monumental sculpture that has deteriorated due to exposure to the elements.

Located in Willard Park the sculpture is 28 feet 10 inches high.

The Free Stamp, created by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje Van Bruggen first appeared on the Cleveland landscape in 1991.
