SANDUSKY -- Are you ready to scream?!?!
SlingShot has been unleashed at Cedar Point.
After climbing aboard, riders are secured in an open-air, two-person capsule, which is then launched nearly 360 feet into the sky at speeds up to 60 mph.
After a brief feeling of weightlessness, riders will fall back toward the ground before catapulting back up and down, tumbling head over heels multiple times.
Upon launch, riders are flung to the second-highest point of the Cedar Point skyline -- 60 feet below Top Thrill Dragster and 50 feet higher than Millennium Force.
Our own Ryan Haidet -- who rode SlingShot live on the air Wednesday morning -- says the scream machine delivers "amazing views" of Cedar Point and the lake.
Riding SlingShot costs an extra $25 per person in addition to general admission. All Platinum passholders will be given a 10 percent discount. Each ride is recorded and you can purchase a video of your experience for $20 more.
Positioned near the Gemini roller coaster's ride station, SlingShot is the final piece to the revitalized Gemini Midway, which features two brand new rides -- Pipe Scream and Lake Erie Eagles.
Initially, SlingShot's addition for 2014 was kept a secret, but the surprise was spoiled when fan sites found a Cedar Point filing with the Federal Aviation Administration regarding the ride's construction in February. Park officials confirmed the ride shortly after.
Manufactured by Funtime in Australia, SlingShot is located near the Gemini racing roller coaster's ride entrance.
The majority of SlingShot's structure was erected in just two days earlier this month.
