Nick Ventura may not remember the doctors and nurses who helped save his life last winter but they remember him.

Nick, who is a Cleveland native, sports a new Buffalo Sabres cap, a gesture of thanks to the city where he and his parents spent five of the most difficult weeks of their lives.

For his father, Brian, the visit is a way to show his gratitude.

In February, Nick hit his head while snowboarding in Ellicottville. He was wearing a helmet but it was cracked. He was critically injured, suffering a traumatic brain injury.
