SPARTA, Ohio -- Authorities in central Ohio say a man stole a cruiser belonging to a sheriff's office and led officers on a chase before being shot by a deputy.
Columbus-area TV stations report the incident began when the suspect took off in a cruiser Sunday night.
Officials say the suspect eventually got out of the vehicle while holding a firearm and was shot by a deputy near Sparta, roughly 30 miles north of Columbus.
A sheriff's dispatcher said information about the condition of the suspect and the officer and further details of what happened were not available early Monday morning.
