CLEVELAND -- The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's office said Wednesday that the man who was shot several times while sitting in a parked car on W. 84th Street in Cleveland Tuesday and died hours later at MetroHealth Medical Center was Evan Holmes, 23, of Bedford.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office expects to do an autopsy today.
Police say the shooting occured just after noon Tuesday and Holmes died at MetroHealth about 5:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, police were called to W. 84th Street and Detroit Avenue for a shooting. They found Holmes with multiple gunshot wounds and he was taken by EMS to MetroHealth.
Police say the driver, who has not been identified, is talking with police. The preliminary investigation, according to police, is that the driver and Holmes were sitting in a car parked at W. 84th & Detroit when two men tried to rob them.
The two suspects pulled out handguns, shot the passenger, and ran off. A handgun was recovered from the car. Police don't know if Holmes or the driver returned fire.
Police describe the suspects as in their 20s, with one wearing a white shirt and blue jeans and the other wearing all black.
