U of A police catch teens following robbery

AKRON -- University of Akron police officers grabbed two suspects in a Saturday night robbery where a 19-year-old was robbed of $36.

About 2:30 a.m. Saturday, a man, 19, was walking near the intersection of Power Street and Sumner Street when he was robbed.

The victim said he was approached by two men asking if he wanted to buy grass. When the victim said no, one suspect pulled the victim by his shirt while the second suspect took money from the victim's pockets.

The suspects ran off on foot with $36 in cash.

Police officers from the University of Akron stopped the suspects on Kathryn Place.

The suspects were arrested after being identified by the victim.

Police arrested and charged a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old, both of Akron, with robbery and placed in the custody of the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center.

Police also recovered the victim's money.
