MENTOR, Ohio -- A Mentor man was taken into police custody after a SWAT standoff at his home Sunday evening, police said.
Police originally went to the house in the 8200 block of Eastmoor Road for a call of shots fired at about 7 p.m. One of the residents was known to own guns.
Police tried to call the people inside the home on the phone, but were unsuccessful.
Shortly after arriving, two females and one male came out of the house.
One man, Ronald Ewanek, 54, remained inside the house, refusing to come out. Ewanek was the person police identified as a gun owner.
The Mentor SWAT and Hostage Negotiation Team was called to the home. They tried repeatedly to speak to Ewanek on the phone and over loud speaker, but he refused.
SWAT forces then used gas to draw Ewanek out of the house, where he surrendered to police.
Nobody was injured from the shots fired, police said.
The investigation continues and charges are pending.
