CHAGRIN FALLS -- A teller who wisely locked her cash drawer when she visited the restroom Sunday in the North Main Street Huntington Bank branch foiled a robbery attempt.
A man entered the bank about 3:30 p.m. Sunday wearing a nylon stocking as a mask and a Browns ball cap. The bank is open Sunday afternoons.
He went to the teller window and demanded cash. The customer service rep on duty said the teller was on a break and the drawer was locked and he couldn't open it.
The man then left the bank on foot through the parking lot shared by the bank and Rick's Cafe. No weapon was seen.
Police responded to the bank when the security buzzer notified Huntington officials.
The man is described as in his late 30s or early 40s, about 5'9" tall with longish brown hair and weighing about 225 pounds.
He was last seen wearing a bluish sport coat/blazer, with a blue-and-white checked shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.
Anyone with information regarding the robbery attempt or the suspect is asked to call Chagrin Falls police at (440) 247-7321 or (440) 247-5110.
