Divorce for transgender man denied
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A woman involved in a fatal hit-and-run at an Ohio mall has been released from prison because of an Ohio Supreme Court decision in a co-defendant's case.
The Columbus Dispatch reports that 26-year-old Mahogany Patterson walked out of prison three years early on Wednesday after a judge granted her release.
Patterson was one of the four Columbus woman convicted of killing a man in the parking lot of the Upper Valley Mall in Springfield in 2005. Prosecutors said the women shoplifted and were fleeing.
The women's first murder conviction was overturned on appeal. A second trial ended in a mistrial, but they were convicted in a third trial.
Co-defendant Toneisha Gunnell appealed on the basis of double jeopardy and won. She was released from prison July 19.
