CLEVELAND --The Navy is headed to Ohio's Lake Erie waterfront later this month to mark the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812.
Sailors will mark Navy Week celebrations beginning Aug. 20 in Toledo and Aug. 27 in Cleveland. The two cities are among 15 nationwide hosting Navy Week events this year.
All 15 Navy Week celebrations are commemorating the bicentennial of the War of 1812. The Battle of Lake Erie fought off Sandusky will be a key highlight of the Toledo and Cleveland Navy Week events.
