TAMPA, Fla. -- Ohio Governor John Kasich used an old anecdote to critcize President Obama's credibility with the federal budget at Tuesday night's Republican National Convention.
"The wind is in our face. The president is giving us headwinds," Kasich said. "President Obama has doubled the national debt."
The federal deficit was a big talking point in Kasich's speech.
"You know, I was chairman of the Budget Committee when we balanced the budget in '97 and I look with horror up at that clock that shows $15 trillion in the national debt, that's the Sword of Damocles hanging over our children's head and the president is doing nothing about it," Kasich continued. "In fact, each year he is increasing that by $1 trillion dollars. One trillion dollars."
