In a statement to The Associated Press, Barkley says he won't comment further on the situation, since it's now a legal matter.
But he says the police in Scottsdale, Arizona "were fantastic" to him during the arrest and booking process.
Police say Barkley was in the Old Town area of Scottsdale when an officer working an anti-drunken-driving task force saw the former NBA star roll through a stop sign.
When he was pulled over, police say they smelled alcohol on Barkley's breath and that he failed field sobriety tests. He was cited and released -- and got a ride home in a taxi.

The report quotes Barkley as telling officers he ran a stop sign because he was with a beautiful woman.
The officer says Barkley told authorities the woman was in the car to provide a certain sexual favor -- and that he was anxious because he had been pleased with her performance the previous week.
Barkley also told a civilian police employee he'd tattoo their name on his backside if it would get him out of the DUI bust.
