"Trees for Troops" is a three-year-old national program that has sent 50,000 real Christmas trees to our troops. It's a project of the Christmas Spirit Foundation, supported by Christmas tree growers nationwide.
The first northeast Ohio location to take part in "Trees for Troops" is Medina Christmas Tree Farms on Hamilton Road in Medina.
This weekend, customers can choose a Christmas tree priced from $35 to $45. The tree farm will wrap it for shipping and Federal Express will deliver the trees to military personnel at no charge.
"We are very excited to join in this program," said "Doc" Reichheld, owner of the tree farm. "It's a great way to bring a part of home to our military personnel who will be far from home this Christmas."
Medina Christmas Tree Farms is the only northeast Ohio tree grower participating in "Trees for Troops."
To allow time for delivery for Christmas, trees for the program will only be available this weekend (Dec. 5-6).
