AKRON -- Three people were arrested early Monday morning after Akron police say they busted the trio stealing catalytic converters.
It was around 4 a.m. when officers responded to Byers Avenue for several males reportedly tampering with vehicles. When they arrived, Akron police say they observed three men sitting inside a Chevy Malibu in the parking lot.
When asked for their identification, Akron police say the men gave false information.
Akron police say they then recovered five catalytic converters, a saw and a car jack. They also reportedly located several vehicles in the parking lot that had catalytic converters stolen.
Those arrested were Jeremy Ford, 31, of Lorain, Robert Callahan, 27, of Cleveland and Anthony Mahoney Sr., 30, of Akron. Each was charged with possession of criminal tools, theft, receiving stolen property and vandalism.
