GATES MILLS -- The Old Mill Road bridge over the Chagrin River downtown closes Tuesday (May 1) until June 26.
Drivers should use Mayfield Road (state Route 322) to the north and Fairmount Road in Hunting Valley to get to either side of the river.
Specifically, for drivers traveling northbound, the primary detour will be Chagrin River Road, east on Fairmount Road, north on County Line Road, to west on Old Mill Road and back to Chagrin River Road.
The southbound detour will be Chagrin River Road, west on Mayfield Road (Route 322), south on West Hill Road and east on Old Mill Road to Chagrin River Road.
This latest closure is to allow the final painting of the bridge and the bridge is expected to reopen for good by the end of June.
The Cuyahoga County bridge #162 rehabilitation project began on July 6, 2011. The overall project is scheduled to be completed by August 2012.
The Chemsteel Construction Company was hired as the general contractor for this project, which is estimated to cost $1,685,000. Funding is being provided by the Ohio Public Works Commission and Cuyahoga County.
