Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Ryan Braun homered and drove in three on Wednesday, as the Brewers crushed the Astros, 13-4, to complete a three-game sweep. Braun knocked in a pair during a six-run fifth inning, then belted his 29th homer of the season in the sixth. Rickie Weeks and Cesar Izturis both homered during the fifth, while Jonathan Lucroy later added a two-run blast for the Brewers, who had lost nine of 10 games entering this series. Mike Fiers (5-4) earned the win, allowing two runs on eight hits over six-plus innings. He did not issue a walk and struck out six en route to his eighth straight quality start. Brett Wallace recorded the first multi-homer game of his career, belting a solo shot and a two-run bomb for the Astros, who had more errors (four) over the first four innings on Wednesday than they had wins in the month of July (three). Jordan Lyles (2-8) lasted five innings and allowed nine runs -- seven earned -- on nine hits in the loss.

Final Score: Pittsburgh 8, Chicago 4

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Michael McKenry capped a five-run eighth with a three-run homer as the Pittsburgh Pirates downed the Chicago Cubs, 8-4, in the rubber match of a three-game set. Andrew McCutchen had two hits and three runs scored, while Starling Marte added a solo shot for the Pirates, who have won six of their last eight games. Jeff Karstens (4-2) surrendered a run on three hits and a walk in five innings. Making their Pirate debuts after being acquired on Tuesday, Gaby Sanchez went 0-for-2 before being lifted for a pinch-hitter, while Travis Snider tallied two hits and a run scored. The Pirates acquired the first baseman Sanchez and pitcher Kyle Kaminska from the Miami Marlins in exchange for outfielder Gorkys Hernandez and the club's 2013 competitive balance draft pick. Snider was brought in from the Toronto Blue Jays for pitcher Brad Lincoln. Travis Wood (4-7) fanned six, but was charged with two runs on three hits and three walks for the Cubs, who have dropped two straight on the heels of a three-game winning streak.

Final Score: Arizona 4, Los Angeles 0

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Patrick Corbin and three Arizona relievers combined to two-hit the Los Angeles Dodgers as the Diamondbacks completed their first three-game sweep at Chavez Ravine in five seasons with a 4-0 shutout. Recalled from Triple-A Reno to start Wednesday's contest, Corbin (3-4) scattered a pair of singles over six innings opposite fellow rookie Stephen Fife (0-1) in the Diamondbacks' sixth consecutive win over the Dodgers. Arizona, winners of 10 of 13 overall, closed the gap on the Dodgers in the NL West standings to 1 1/2 games. Los Angeles entered the series finale one game behind first-place San Francisco. Miguel Montero homered, singled and drove in three runs for the Diamondbacks. Paul Goldschmidt collected three hits and Chris Johnson added a solo home run. Matt Kemp and Fife supplied the hits for Los Angeles, which was swept at home by Arizona for the first time since August 3-5, 2007.
