AKRON -- Police are investigating a slew of crimes that took place throughout the weekend, including robberies, a shooting and the vandalism of more than 30 vehicles.

The first crime occurred around 5 p.m. Friday when police say a 20-year-old man walking near the intersection of Crouse Street at Forrest was assaulted and robbed.

The victim said he was walking to the barbershop when he was approached from behind by two suspects. According to police, one suspect choked the victim while the other punched him in the face.

When the victim fell to the ground, the suspects kicked him and demanded money. The victim reached into his pocket and threw approximately $70 on the ground, which the suspects grabbed and ran off.

Police arrested two men -- Julian Wing, 20, and Azontie Christina, 19 -- in connection with the robbery a short time later near the intersection of East Exchange Street and Excelsior Avenue. Both have been booked into the Summit County Jail.

The victim was taken to Akron City Hospital with reportedly minor injuries.
