Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - The Chicago White Sox purchased the contract
of infielder Jose Lopez from Triple-A Charlotte among a bevy of moves on
Thursday.
In 66 games with the Cleveland Indians this season, Lopez hit .249 with four
home runs and 28 RBI. In nine seasons with the Mariners, Rockies, Marlins and
Indians, Lopez is a .262 hitter with 92 career homers.
The White Sox also placed catcher Tyler Flowers on the paternity list,
purchased the contract of Hector Gimenez from Charlotte, transferred pitcher
Brian Bruney to the 60-day disabled list and released pitcher Gregory Infante.
Flowers owns a .231 average with six home runs in 42 games this season.
Gimenez, who appeared in the major leagues in 2011 with the Los Angeles
Dodgers, hit .259 with 14 homers with Charlotte.
