Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith was
reportedly fined $21,000 by the NFL on Friday.
The Minneapolis Tribune is reporting the fine, which stems from a hit Smith
laid down on San Diego Chargers wide receiver Mike Willie in the third
preseason game on August 24.
Minnesota drafted the 6-foot-2, 214-pound Notre Dame product 29th overall
after the club selected left tackle Matt Kalil with the fourth overall pick in
the 2012 NFL draft.
In his 51-game career with the Fighting Irish, Smith totaled 309 tackles, 18.5
tackles for a loss, 3 1/2 sacks, seven interceptions and 35 passes defensed.
