Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - Dan Haren allowed an unearned run over seven
strong innings as the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim routed the Seattle
Mariners, 9-1, in the opener of a three-game set Friday at Safeco Field.
Haren (9-10) scattered five hits and struck out three without walking a batter
to snap a four-start winless skid.
Kendrys Morales clubbed a three-homer and knocked in four overall, Bobby
Wilson smacked a two-run shot, and Torii Hunter registered four hits, an RBI
and a run scored for the Angels, who won their fourth straight contest.
Kevin Millwood (4-12) was charged for five runs -- four earned -- on nine hits
and four walks over five frames.
John Jaso knocked in the lone run for Seattle, which snapped an eight-game
home winning streak.
The Angels jumped on Millwood early as Hunter smacked a one-out single, Albert
Pujols walked and Morales followed with a blast into the seats in right-center
field to give the Halos a 3-0 lead.
Seattle answered in the bottom half when Franklin Gutierrez singled, moved to
third on an errant pickoff attempt from Haren, and then scored on Jaso's two-
out single to right field.
Morales plated another run in the fourth with a single into center field to
score Mike Trout, who had walked to start the frame.
The Angels tacked on one more in the sixth when Trout singled, stole second
and score on Hunter's double into left field.
The visitors added three more in the ninth as Alberto Callaspo doubled home
Erick Aybar, who tripled to start the frame, before Wilson launched a two-run
blast into left field for a 9-1 advantage.
GAME NOTES:
Haren's last win came on July 27 against the Tampa Bay Rays ... The Angels
have won their last six games at Safeco Field ... Trout scored three runs
which gives him 106 on the year, breaking the Angels' single-season rookie-
record set by Devon White back in 1987 (103).
