CINCINNATI -- Vice President Joe Biden will campaign in Ohio's Appalachian region in the aftermath of the Democratic National Convention.
So far, it has announced rallies in Zanesville in eastern Ohio and the southeastern Ohio college town of Athens, home of Ohio University.
In Athens, Biden speaks at a community center near the campus of Ohio University -- sports rival of Republican VP candidate Paul Ryan's Miami University alma mater.
The Obama campaign had said earlier that Biden would spend this weekend in Ohio.
The mostly rural region has been a swing area within the swing state. It's loaded with white, working-class voters the campaign counts on Biden to appeal to.
He last week campaigned among auto workers in northeastern Ohio.
Biden is set to speak at the convention Thursday evening, ahead of President Barack Obama.
