LORAIN COUNTY -- A corrections officer at the Lorain County Jail has been placed on paid leave after video was released showing him scuffling with an inmate.
The July incident happened as the corrections officer and a nurse were dispensing medications. The inmate, Jordan Sand, refused meds leading to an eventual physical confrontation with the corrections officer.
The officer told investigators Sand had become agitated, refused commands to settle down and made a verbal threat.
Investigators reviewed the tape, however, and found that Sand was not the aggressor in the incident.
Sand was not seriously hurt in the scuffle, and has since been released from the jail.
The officer is scheduled to appear in court next week on a charge of misdemeanor assault
