CHAGRIN FALLS -- The Chagrin Valley is set for its second "Cash Mob" event.
Organizers have planned a "cash mob" starting at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Fireside Book Shop at 29 North Franklin Street in downtown Chagrin Falls, right across from the Triangle.
Founded in 1963 by the late Barbara Lewis, Fireside is a 49-year-old mainstay in downtown. Her son Jim Lewis now runs the store.
Locally owned and operated, it's a great place to browse for books and gifts. Fireside Bookshop in Chagrin Falls has survived while big-box stores like Borders went under.
Organizer Bruce Corson said "It's tough out there for booksellers, no doubt, so let's do all we can to support this local store. Please join me in spending at least $20 at Fireside."
Last fall, there was a 'cash mob' for Shutt's Hardware on North Main Street, another locally-owned store that continues in spite of the big box stores nearby.
