Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Oakland Raiders wide receiver Darrius Heyward-
Bey was carted off the field in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game against
the Pittsburgh Steelers after taking a hit to the head.
Heyward-Bey suffered the injury while trying to make a catch in the end zone
on a deep pass over the middle.
As the ball was getting to the receiver, the Steelers' Ryan Mundy lowered his
head and struck Heyward-Bey in the jaw with the top of his helmet.
Heyward-Bey immediately fell to the ground motionless and had to be carted off
the field on a stretcher after medical personnel tended to him for several
minutes.
He was responsive and gave a thumbs up to the crowd as he was leaving.
