AKRON -- A 46-year-old man is in custody after allegedly hitting a Marathon gas station with a sledgehammer.
Officers responded to the gas station in the 2100 block of East Avenue shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday.
Police say the suspect was using a sledgehammer to break a large hole into the wall. Officers recovered a bucket, two sledgehammers, a chisel, pliers and several trash bags.
The man has been charged with breaking and entering, possession of criminal tools and vandalism.
He has been booked in the Summit County Jail.
