CLEVELAND -- A judge has sentenced a man to life in prison for the 2008 murder of a Euclid woman.
Richard Penque, 24, would be eligible for parole after 33 years.
Police found the victim, Marilyn Habian, 54, dead of a gunshot wound to the chest in her Ball Avenue home on April 7, 2008. Prosecutors say, Penque was a neighbor who then put combustibles on the stove to set the home on fire after shooting Habian. Habian worked as a Cleveland teacher.
A grand jury indicted Penque in September 2011, one day before he was due to be released from prison for an unrelated assault in Chester Township.
A jury convicted Penque of aggravated murder, aggravated burglary, kidnapping and attempted arson on October 12 of this year.
