PHILADELPHIA - A mixture of snow and rain is starting to fall in parts of eastern Pennsylvania.
The weather caused a messy commute in the northeastern part of the state Tuesday. There were widespread crashes reported in many parts of the Poconos, where many schools also closed.
The National Weather Service is also forecasting 2 to 4 inches of snow to fall Tuesday in Philadelphia's northern and western suburbs, with snow starting to fall in some areas Tuesday morning. Less than an inch is expected in Philadelphia and some areas are expected to see mostly rain.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has been treating roadways in preparation for the wintry weather.
