MEDINA -- A local pizza chain is jumping into the holiday spirit by launching a campaign to help benefit area food banks.
Romeo's Pizza locations across Northeast Ohio and Columbus are asking customers to donate canned goods for local needy families now through Dec. 30.
Customers can drop off any canned-food donations at their local Romeo's Pizza location or give them to any delivery driver when their pizza arrives.
The donations will then be given by Romeo's Pizza to the following food banks:
- Cleveland Food Bank
- Akron-Canton Food Bank
- Mid-Ohio Food Bank
- Second Harvest Food Bank
- Feeding Medina County Program
Any customer who donates will be given $1 off their pizza order.
"We've been planning this Food Drive for many months and have been training our teams on how to execute the program," said Sean Brauser, CEO and founder of Romeo's Pizza. "We're very grateful for our loyal and generous customers who have supported us. With the help of these customers, we expect to be able to deliver truckloads of canned goods to the Food Banks in January."
Romeo's began collecting the food donations on Nov. 27.
