Iowa City, IA (Sports Network) - Aaron White put in 21 points as the Iowa
Hawkeyes easily took down the South Dakota Coyotes 87-63 in non-conference
action at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Roy Devyn Marble added 14 points and eight rebounds for Iowa (7-2). Mike
Gesell finished with 12 points, Adam Woodbury chipped in 10 and Anthony
Clemmons handed out eight assists.
Trevor Gruis had 16 points and Casey Kasperbauer netted 14 for South Dakota
4-5).
Iowa missed all seven of its shots from 3-point range in the first half but
netted 47.4 percent of its shots overall to take a 45-32 lead at intermission.
South Dakota hit six 3-pointers but shot 37.9 percent overall and was
outscored 9-4 from the free throw line.
Both team's cooled off in the second half with Iowa connecting on 42.1 percent
of its shots over the final 20 minutes. With South Dakota behind at 30.8
percent the Coyotes could not make a dent in the Hawkeyes' sizable lead.
Iowa was dominant inside outscoring South Dakota 54-14 on points in the paint
and 24-4 on second chance points. The Hawkeyes had a 50-32 edge in rebounds
and brought down 20 offensive boards.
