Documentary filmmakers say they have captured the first moving images of a giant squid in its natural habitat.
The video of the 10-foot squid was taken by a small submersible last July off a group of Japanese islands.
The 40-day expedition was led by zoologist Tsunemi Kubodera.
He had previously captured video of a giant squid on a bait line in 2006, but Kubodera says this is the first video taken deep in the ocean.
The video will be aired on the Discovery Channel on Jan. 27.
