Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Rudy Gay provided the go-ahead basket with
13.3 seconds left to help lift the Memphis Grizzlies to a 103-100 win over the
Philadelphia 76ers on Monday.
Jerryd Bayless missed a jumper with 17.9 ticks showing, but Gay cleaned up the
miss and knocked down a floater in the middle of the lane to put the Grizzlies
up 101-100.
Nick Young's jumper on Philadelphia's ensuing possession rimmed out before
Gay, who finished with 26 points, seven rebounds and five assists, netted a
pair of free throws with 1.2 seconds left.
The Sixers, though, had one last chance to tie the game. Following a timeout,
Young took the inbounds pass and fired up a desperation 3-pointer from the
right wing, but Marc Gasol swatted it away to seal the win.
Gasol scored 27 points to go with seven boards and seven assists and Bayless,
who started in place of Mike Conley, scored 21 points and dished out nine
assists for Memphis, winners in three of their last four. Conley sat with an
injured ankle.
Evan Turner scored 27 points on 12-of-18 shooting and also dished out seven
assists. Thaddeus Young poured in 23 points and pulled down seven boards
for the Sixers, who haven't won back-to-back games since winning three
straight from Nov. 25-30.
Jrue Holiday, who was named to his first All-Star game last week, scored 18
points and dished out 10 assists in the setback.
