San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - The San Diego Padres came to terms with
infielder Chase Headley on a one-year contract. No terms were disclosed in
Wednesday's announcement.
The 28-year-old Headley had a banner year in 2012, batting .286 with 31
doubles, 31 home runs, 115 runs batted in and 95 runs scored. He showcased his
durability (playing in 161 games) and joined Dave Winfield as the only Padres
to lead the National League in RBI for an entire campaign.
Headley also flashed the leather, winning his first career Gold Glove to go
along with a Louisville Silver Slugger award.
In six seasons with the Padres, Headley owns a .273 batting average with 67
home runs, 319 runs batted in and 312 runs scored.
The Sports Network
