Port St. Lucie, FL (Sports Network) - Steve Lombardozzi went 2-for-3 with two
RBI to pace a 17-hit attack that carried the Washington Nationals to a 6-4
triumph over the New York Mets in a spring-training clash.
Eury Perez finished 3-for-3 with two runs scored and Will Rhymes added a pair
of hits while crossing the plate once for Washington, which received a strong
two innings from Gio Gonzalez in the 21-game winner of 2012's first outing of
the spring.
Gonzalez issued just one walk while fanning three batters and throwing 13 of
his 17 pitches for strikes.
Ike Davis had a solo homer and Juan Lagares delivered a two-run single in the
eighth inning for the Mets.
Collin McHugh drew the start for New York and was tagged for three runs and
six hits over 2 1/3 innings of work.
