Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - The Texas Rangers have given a promotion to
general manager Jon Daniels.
The team said Daniels' new title will be president of baseball
operations/general manager. Additionally, the team has promoted chief
operating officer Rick George to president of business operations.
The team said Daniels and George will continue to oversee the day-to-day
operations of the club under the leadership of Chief Executive Officer Nolan
Ryan.
This will be the eighth season for Daniels overseeing the team. He was named
GM in October 2005. The team won back-to-back American League pennants in 2010
and 2011.
"I am proud of what we have accomplished as an organization over the last
several years," said Ryan. "That has been due in large part to the efforts of
a lot of talented and dedicated individuals who work in all areas of
the ballclub. I want to congratulate Jon and Rick on their promotions as the
organization moves forward with a tremendous group of employees to achieve an
even greater level of excellence in 2013 and in the years to come."
