SHALERSVILLE TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A 76-year-old Mantua woman who was seriously injured in a Feb. 28 crash died from her injuries Tuesday.
Joan Buchert was injured while heading south on State Route 44, south of Webb Road in Shalersville. She went off the right side of the road, striking a mailbox, the ditch and a tree.
At the time, she was taken to Robinson Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Akron City Hospital for further treatment.
Buchert was wearing a seatbelt and the airbag deployed, investigators said.
It is the third traffic-related death in Portage County this year.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
