Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Steelers have released
veteran guard Willie Colon, the team announced on Wednesday.
Colon was the Steelers' fourth-round selection in the 2006 NFL Draft and
started all 66 games in which he played between regular-season and postseason
during his seven-year tenure with the team.
However, the 29-year-old missed all but one game between the 2010 and 2011
seasons due to injuries and sat out five of Pittsburgh's final six contests
last year after undergoing knee surgery.
Colon was the Steelers' regular right tackle from 2007-09 before being
switched to left guard last season, where he started 11 games.
