It looks like price tags for both a riverfront site and the old convention center location, will both come in way above $400 million.
But commissioners Tim Hagan and Peter Lawson Jones both say $400 million is the maximum budget unless money comes from elsewhere or the project goes someplace else.
"It's reasonable to expect in a real partnership public private partnership that you don't have an imbalance with the public paying more than 80 percent," Jones said. "If we're looking at a $500 million project, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the private sector to fund the difference."
Business leaders and numbers crunchers are planning to give commissioners, a recommended site, by next week.
