Teen killed, another seriously injured in crash after prom

Grafton teen killed in car crash

EATON TOWNSHIP - A teenage girl was killed and a man seriously injured as they drove home from after-prom celebrations early Sunday morning.

Lindsey Mae Rotuno, 17, and Chase Elliot Johnson, 18, both from Grafton, were heading home following after-prom for Midview High School, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Around 3 a.m., they were traveling westbound down State Route 82, near the intersection on State Route 57, when Johnson drove onto a grassy median and struck two utility poles.

Rotuno, his passenger, was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.

Johnson, who was wearing a seatbelt, was seriously injured and was taken by EMS to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center.

Though speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors, troopers performed field sobriety tests and believe Johnson may have been under the influence of drugs.

The crash remains under investigation.
