Cleveland Police: West Shoreway/East Shoreway accidents

CLEVELAND -- Here's a round-up of the two major incidents from the Cleveland Police Traffic Bureau in response during Wednesday's storm.

Police say the statistics may also include incidents from Thursday morning's rush hour.

  • An accident at I-90 westbound near East 72nd Street with 10 vehicles involved, 10 vehicles towed. Numerous stranded motorists and passengers were assisted off the freeway. The Accident Investigation Unit is continuing the follow-up investigation and no citations have yet been issued
  • An accident on the West Shoreway (Route 2) eastbound near Edgewater Park had 18 vehicles involved. One man got out of his vehicle and was subsequently struck by an out-of-control vehicle. He was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center after being pinned under a vehicle. His condition is not known Thursday. About 10 vehicles were towed and the West Shoreway was closed until just after 9 p.m. Wednesday
  • Cleveland Police assisted about 26 stranded and/or spun-out motorists assisted and towed 23 vehicles. The Traffic Bureau issued 26 parking infraction tickets and ticketed 16 drivers.
