The death of Donna Summer has sparked questions as to why the 'Disco Queen' hasn't been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Elton John, who was inducted in 1994, posted a statement on his website that calls it a "total disgrace" Donna Summer has not yet been immortalized in the Rock Hall "especially when I see the second rate talent that has been inducted."
Summer was among the nominees considered for the 2012 induction, but was not one of the 17 selected.
Summer died Thursday, May 17 after a battle with cancer. She was 63.
The 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony was held in Cleveland on April 14. Some of the 2012 inductees include the Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Donovan, Guns N' Roses and Laura Nyro.
Here's Elton John's full statement regarding Donna Summer as posted on EltonJohn.com:
"I'm so sad. This woman was the queen of disco and so much more. Her records sound as good today as they ever did. That she has never been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is a total disgrace especially when I see the second rate talent that has been inducted. She is a great friend to me and to the Elton John AIDS Foundation and I will miss her greatly."
