BEREA -- On Wednesday, the Cuyahoga County fairgrounds will be loaded with SPAM.

No, not that kind of spam -- the edible kind.

Did you know that SPAM is very popular in Northeast Ohio? And this year it celebrates the 75th anniversary of SPAM.

The Cuyahoga County Fair will be the site of the annual SPAM recipe contest, with entries being accepted from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 8), with judging taking place at 7:30 p.m.

The contest will be held in the Home & Hobby building at the fairgrounds.

This year's theme? All-Time Favorite SPAM Recipe, so expect lots of creative ingredient combinations.

And while you wait for the judges to decide, there will be trivia contests giveaways and free recipes available.

SPAM Champions are selected based on the taste, originality and presentation of their SPAM inventions. Contestants use their creativity to make their all-time favorite SPAM creation and up to 10 ingredients.
