LOS ANGELES -- You can't believe everything you read on Twitter and Facebook. And if you didn't know that before, you should have figured that out after watching the Emmys last night.
Host Jimmy Kimmel got Tracy Morgan to go along with a prank in which he laid down on the stage and Kimmel told people to go to social networking sites and say "Tracy Morgan just passed out on the Emmys. Turn on ABC right now!"
Thousands of people got involved, sending out the bogus information.
Others saw the words "Tracy Morgan" and "passed out" and thought it really happened. Morgan may have even believed the prank himself. Not only did he lie down on stage, he stayed there through the commercial break and was led off, rambling to himself.
