CLEVELAND -- Police were called to assist in a scaly situation around noon Monday when an alligator was reportedly loose in a back yard.
Animal control officer Bobby Nolan says the alligator, measuring about three feet long, was found in an aquarium-style pen in a yard near West 50th and Fanta Avenue.

The gator was removed from the yard and taken into their custody. Nolan says it's illegal for Cleveland residents to own exotic animals like an alligator.
Nolan says they also recovered four dogs that were tied up without food or water.
The owner of the animals is not known.
