AKRON -- Mayor Don Plusquellic will have a major presence at the Akron Aeros game on Sunday, Aug. 26. Everywhere you look, he will be nodding back and forth.
That's because the long-time mayor of Akron has been immortalized as a bobblehead promotional giveaway.
The bobblehead features Mayor Plusquellic standing on a green patch of grass in a black suit with a blue shirt and red tie. With a big smile on his face, the mayor's arm is outstretched as if ready to shake somebody's hand.

"It is a fun concept and I am happy to do what I can to encourage attendance at the Aeros' games," Mayor Plusquellic said in an e-mail. "I have many family members and friends who are looking forward to having a bobblehead in my likeness (although I am not sure how much it actually looks like me) and I am sure people will joke about it for weeks to come (especially unsavory characters like local columnists)."
The first 1,000 fans at the stadium to watch the Aeros battle Trenton will be given the Plusquellic bobblehead.
Gates open at noon, first pitch is 1:05 p.m.
The idea sparked earlier this year, when the Aeros' promotional office posted a question on their Facebook page asking fans who they would like to see turned into a bobblehead.
"We considered about four other candidates as a staff before selecting the mayor," Calvin Funkhouser, the director of corporate sales and promotions, said.
Funkhouser wouldn't reveal the four other people since they may be options for future promotional giveaways.
"I just hope this promotion helps make the day at the Aeros' stadium an enjoyable and fun experience," Plusquellic said.
