There's a major police presence in Charlotte, N.C. as protesters gathered in the city on the first day of the Democratic National Convention.

Police blocked their route as they tried to march toward the convention center.

The stand-off was eventually resolved, one protester was arrested.

Fewer demonstrators than expected actually showed up for the rally and march.
