CLEVELAND -- A part of Interstate 90 at the border of Euclid and Cleveland was closed Saturday evening after an accident involving three cars.
According to police, the accident happened around 5 p.m. on Interstate 90 westbound near East 152nd Street as a result of a wrong-way driver.
The wrong-way driver, identified as Stefania Cigale, 86, was driving a 2009 Ford Fusion eastbound in the westbound lanes. Police say she entered the freeway somewhere between downtown Cleveland and Bratenahl.
She struck one car in Bratenahl before slamming into three other vehicles in Cleveland near the Euclid border.
All westbound lanes were closed between East 140th and East 200th streets.
Cleveland EMS confirmed they took two people to MetroHealth Medical Center and one person to Hillcrest Hospital as a result of the accident.
The wrong-way driver died later at MetroHealth Medical Center. All of the others were treated and released.
Police are not releasing any names as of Sunday morning.
