Rainbow awarded $325K to support child cancer research

CLEVELAND -- University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital has been awarded $325,000 to fund research into childhood cancer treatments.

Hyundai Hope on Wheels and Cleveland-area Hyundai dealers awarded UH a $250,000 Hope Grant and a $75,000 Scholar Grant.

Rainbow is one of 41 recipients of the Hope on Wheel's 2012 Hyundai Hope Grant program which will award $10.25 million in grants during September in honor of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital is also one of 43 recipients for Hope On Wheels' 2012 Hyundai Scholar Grant, which supports principal investigators, known as Hyundai Scholars, who are pursuing research to improve the lives of children battling pediatric cancer.

"At Hyundai, our goal is for a child to never again have to hear the words 'you have cancer'," said John Krafcik, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor America. "Through the support of our dealers, hospital partners, and online community, this goal is attainable as we join together for a cure. We congratulate and commend each institution for their important and life-changing work, and thank our supporters who help continue our efforts."
